Eugene 08: US Olympic Team Trials

The 2008 US Olympic Team Trials for Track & Field will take place in Eugene, Oregon, at Hayward Field from June 27 through July 6. Eugene is known as "Track Town, USA" for its history of world-class track and field events and for its strong tradition of community interest. Hayward Field was the site of the Olympic Trials in 1972, 1976, and 1980. During the 2008 event, over 1,000 athletes will compete for a place on the Olympic Track & Field team. During the trials, the Eugene 08 Festival will celebrate the athletes with a full range of community festivities. Eugene 08 will appeal both to spectators before and after each competition session and to fans without tickets who would like to participate in the event. Live entertainment, a food court, a sports bar, a kids' area, and huge video screens of the competition are among the Festival's attractions.
