Monday March 24, 2008
For girls who are itchin' to rock, Portland's Rock'n'Roll Camp for Girls will offer three different week-long summer camp sessions this year. No matter what their skill level, campers aged 13-18 will get a chance to play guitar, drums, keyboards, bass, vocals, or DJing, form a band, write a song, and perform before a live audience of friends and family. The Rock’n’Roll Camp for Girls is a non-profit organization working to build "girls self-esteem through music creation and performance." The organization also offers after-school rock programs and Ladies Rock Camp.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls is a wonderful organization that boosts the self-esteem of girls through musical creativity. The recent movie “Girls Rock!” has called attention to the camp. If you have a girl in your life who is inspired by the camp, but can’t make it to one of the regional camps, get her the book, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls” put out by Chronicle Books in June.
Rock on, ladies!
