Elizabethan Theatre in Ashland Oregon

Jennifer Donahoe
The small town of Ashland lies along the I-5 corridor, nestled in a mountain valley, embraced by the Siskiyou Mountains. Ashland is home to the famous Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which runs from mid-February to October every year. In addition to the festival's Tony-award-winning productions, visitors will enjoy the art galleries, boutiques, and restaurants found in this mountain hamlet. Nearby mountains, rivers, and lakes provide year-round recreation, including white water rafting, hiking, fishing, and skiing. The variety of fun things to do makes Ashland the ideal choice for a getaway that is both physically and mentally stimulating.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival
Both classic and contemporary theatre productions are presented in the three venues of the Festival. The 600-seat Angus Bowmer Theatre provides a grand setting for epic theatre, while the smaller Black Swan offers a more intimate milieu. The open-air Elizabethan Theatre seats an audience of 1200. Tickets can be obtained at the box office, by telephone (541-482-4331), or by fax (541-482-8045). Backstage tours, lecture series, informal talks, focused classes, and pre-play prefaces provide additional opportunities to enrich your Shakespeare Festival experience.

Oregon Cabaret Theatre
The Oregon Cabaret Theatre presents musicals, revues, and comedies in a nightclub setting. Go early and enjoy brunch or dinner in the intimate, 140-seat theatre, housed in a restored historic building that was once a Baptist church.
