The new Mount Rainier Gondola, opening in December 2010, departs from a boarding area near the Main Lodge at Crystal Mountain Resort and heads to the top of the mountain and the Summit House Restaurant. When reaching the top, riders will be rewarded with stunning views of Mount Rainier and the Cascade Mountains. During the winter, gondola rides are available to those who wish to take in the scenery and enjoy a meal at the Summit House Restaurant as well as to skiers and snowboarders. Hikers and sightseers can ride the gondola during the warmer months of the year.
How far and high does the Mount Rainier Gondola travel?
Traveling from the base of the mountain to the summit, the gondola covers 2,500 feet in less than 10 minutes. It reaches a distance of 2,456 feet above the ground at its highest point. The elevation at the gondola summit is 6,872 feet above sea level.
