Festal Cultural Festivals at Seattle Center

The Inside of the Center House at Seattle Center

Inside of the Center House you'll find a number of places to eat and drink, special event and festival space, Seattle Center offices, and the Children's Museum.

Every year, Seattle Center partners with community organizations to present Festál, a series of FREE cultural festivals. The events take place on weekends throughout the year and are located in the Center House and throughout the Seattle Center campus. Festál events honor the richness and diversity of the Northwest community and celebrate the life, vitality and economic development that our varied cultures bring to the region. Festal events include:

Tet Festival: Vietnamese Lunar New Year (January)
Lion dances and firecrackers chase out evil spirits at this Vietnamese New Year celebration.

Festival Sundiata: African-American Celebration (February)
Features dance, gospel, jazz, hip-hop and an African marketplace.

Irish Week Festival (March)
Irish music, step dancing, Gaelic contests, language lessons, movies and cultural exhibits.

Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival (April)
Welcomes spring with taiko drumming, green teas, ikebana flowers and more.

Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May)
Features lion dances, martial arts, taiko drumming and the work of renowned Asian artists.

Spirit of West Africa (May)
Explores the traditions of six West African countries with hip hop, jazz, rock, exhibits and storytelling.

Northwest Folklife Festival (May - Memorial Day Weekend)
The largest folklife celebrations in North America fills Seattle Center Memorial Day weekend with 7,000 participants and in more than a 1,000 performances - food, music, art and dance.

A Glimpse of China: Chinese Culture and Arts Festival (May or June)
Music, art, movement tell the story of the region's rich cultures with martial arts, costumes, a Chinese garden and gift booths.

Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival (June)
Filipino traditions are celebrated with pageantry, music, dance, food, children's activities, literary arts and rock bands.

Iranian Festival (June)
Features music and dance, Rumi poetry, food and libation, puppet shows and face painting.

Bastille Day: A French Celebration (July)
Vive la France with picnics, French wine tasting, cooking demonstrations, games and music.

Arab Festival (August)
Exotic food and music, a traditional bazaar, dancing, workshops and children's activities provide a glimpse into the 22 cultures of the Arab world.

BrasilFest (August)
One of the most animated festivals in the Festál series features colorful costumes, food, martial arts and samba music illuminating Brazil's African, Portuguese and indigenous roots.

Tibet Fest: Tibetan Cultural Heritage (August)
Centuries-old stories, rituals, foods and melodies link this ancient culture to modern times.

Korean Cultural Celebration (Sep)
Folk songs, dance, foods, Tae Kwon Do, films and art displays celebrate the harvest and highlight Korea's cultural evolution.

Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival (Sep)
This vibrant addition to the Festál series showcases Hawaii's colorful history through traditional dance, music, films, food and arts and crafts.

Seattle Fiestas Patrias: Latin American Independence (Sep)
Celebrates independence from colonial rule with dance, mariachi music, food, exhibits and children's activities.

The Italian Festival (Sep)
Seattle Center transforms into a little Italy with wine tasting, Italian cuisine, bocce ball and grape-stomping competitions, Italian music and much more.

CroatiaFest: Croatian Cultural Festival (Oct)
Acclaimed folk dance ensembles, musicians and visiting artists, arts and crafts displays and food celebrate Croatian culture.

TurkFest: Turkish Cultural Festival (Oct)
Folk dances, a fashion show, Turkish music, shadow puppetry, Turkish foods and more.

Dia de Muertos: A Mexican Celebration to Remember Our Departed (Late Oct/Early Nov)
A remarkable, colorful festival featuring brilliant sand painting, community altars, sugar skulls, candles and acclaimed Mexican artists.

Hmong New Year Celebration (Nov)
Recognizes the Lunar New Year through storytelling, dance, embroidery and music.
