Northwest Cuisine in Seattle

Restaurants featuring the foods of the Pacific Northwest

By

Fresh Northwest foods and waterfront views are essential parts of the Seattle experience. Local restaurants often feature ingredients from the local region, including salmon, Dungeness crab, oysters, wines, and berries.

Here are some of the best places for visitors to relax and savor the fresh seasonal bounty of the Pacific Northwest.

Palisade

Located overlooking Elliott Bay Marina, Palisade serves fresh fish and shellfish in an elegant tiered dining room. A series of saltwater ponds, connected by streams, traverse the restaurant, adding to the fresh-from-the-Northwest ambience. Many of the menu items are prepared in Hawaiian style, combining Northwest seafoods with such tropical ingredients as macadamia nuts, mango, and banana. Palisade also offers scrumptious desserts, a decadent Sunday brunch buffet, and a full-service bar.

Salty's on Alki

Located in West Seattle, Salty's on Alki provides a fantastic view of Elliott Bay and the Seattle skyline. Regular items on the lunch and dinner menus include Salty's signature seafood cioppino, cedar-planked smoked salmon, and Dungeness crab cakes; an extensive fresh sheet offers seasonal Northwest specialties. Salty's all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch is a highly-recommended experience, perfect for celebrating special occasions.

Ray's Boathouse

A fabulous Shilshole Bay location and fresh Northwest seafoods make Ray's Boathouse a great way to appreciate your Seattle experience. Ray's is known for its award-winning wine selection that features many of the Northwest's premier wineries. Ray's upstairs cafe offers a more casual dining option.

SkyCity at the Needle

Located high up in Seattle's Space Needle, the revolving SkyCity restaurant offers 360-degree views that encompass the city, the Puget Sound, and the Olympic and Cascades mountain ranges. Every seat in the house allows you to enjoy the scenery (weather conditions permitting). SkyCity's menu includes local wines, Pacific Northwest seafood, and fresh-made desserts. On the weekend, you can enjoy their fabulous brunch buffet.

Ivar's Salmon House

This waterfront seafood restaurant is a Seattle institution. Located on the north shore of Lake Union in a replica Northwest Indian Longhouse, Ivar's uses an open-pit barbecue for preparing their delectable alder-smoked salmon and seafoods.

Cutters Crabhouse

Cutters Crabhouse (the recently-updated Cutters Bayhouse) offers a seafood-focused menu that include raw and chilled offerings along with chef-prepared fish and shellfish dishes. Fresh Pacific oysters, crab cocktail, a crab boil, and steamed whole crab can be found on the menu, along with some steak, chop, and pasta dishes. Located at the north end of the Pike Place Market district, Cutter's Crabhouse provides amazing views of Seattle's waterfront and downtown skyline.

Anthony's

Anthony's has several locations around the Puget Sound region, all in gorgeous waterfront settings. Anthony's Pier 66 and Chinook's at Salmon Bay are the two downtown locations that are popular with out-of-town visitors. Anthony's menus feature the freshest local seafood and produce, as well as Washington wines and microbrews.

Chandler's Crabhouse

Situated in Chandler's Cove on Lake Union, Chandler's Crabhouse offers an abundance of fresh seafoods. Half shell oysters, sushi, seasonal crab selections, and fish of all kinds make up most of Chandler's dinner menu. They also offer an extensive wine list, an array of yummy desserts, Sunday Brunch, and a full bar.
