The property has been a vacation resort since 1883, when Samuel Welch provided a campground for tourists. The first golf course was added in 1928. A variety of different accommodations, meeting rooms, and facilities were added over the years. It was given the name "The Resort at the Mountain" in 1989. Redone in contemporary Northwest style, The Resort at the Mountain unveiled newly-renovated rooms and public spaces in early 2009.
