You can choose from a number of different ski resorts in the Northwest US. They all offer great ski conditions and facilities, comfortable accommodations, and such resort amenities as restaurants, shopping, and night life.

1. Sun Valley - Idaho

With easy skiing on Dollar Mountain and more varied and difficult terrain on Bald Mountain, Sun Valley provides the full range of skiing experiences. Sun Valley offers lessons and clinics geared for beginners as well as for advanced skiers. Accommodations at Sun Valley include basic hotel rooms, deluxe suites, condominiums, and cottages. Fine and casual dining is available throughout the Resort, both in the village and at the mountain lodges. Sun Valley Resort shops offer everything from ski gear to the latest fashions. Other resort amenities that can be enjoyed during the ski season are the salon and spa, ice skating, sleigh rides, a movie and opera house, and a gun club.

2. Jackson Hole - Wyoming

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers challenging skiing on two different mountains, Apres Vous and Rendezvous. Their Mountain Sports School offers private lessons, a range of classes and clinics, and the chance to ski with an Olympic champion skier. Besides skiing and snowboarding, you can also participate in a variety of different winter activities while at Jackson Hole, including dogsledding, sleigh riding, snowmobiling, and snow kite boarding. Lodging is available in Teton Village and at nearby Resort facilities and ranges from basic hotels to luxury accommodations. Food and drink can be found all around the mountain, from fine dining at Couloir to pizza, deli sandwiches, or waffles.

3. Bogus Basin - Idaho

Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area, located outside of Boise, offers long ski seasons and over 2,600 acres if skiable terrain. Skiers who want to stay on the mountain can choose from three different lodges: the Simplot Lodge, the Pioneer Lodge, and the Frontier Point Nordic Lodge.

4. Big Sky - Montana

Big Sky offers lots and lots of terrain for skiers and snowboarders - 150 named runs covering over 85 miles on three separate mountains. They also have miles of Nordic and backcountry ski trail. Resort amenities include over 20 different eateries, a full-service spa, diverse shopping, and a selection of mountain lodging.

5. Whitefish Mountain Resort - Montana

Whitefish Mountain Resort is known for it short lift lines, deep snow, and relatively mild weather. Skiers and snowboarders will enjoy the mountain's diverse terrain, which includes groomed cruisers, open bowls, glades, steeps, and beginner areas.

6. Schweitzer Mountain Resort - Idaho

Located just a short drive from Sandpoint, Schweitzer Mountain Resort is a fabulous place for year-round recreation. In the winter, you'll enjoy downhill skiing as well as many other snow sports, such as tubing and snowshoeing. You can enjoy both fine and casual dining at Schweitzer Village; the Chimney Rock Grill serves pasta dishes, seafood, and steaks, as well as a variety of appetizers, salads, and desserts in a pub-style atmosphere. Village lodging options include White Pine Lodge and Selkirk Lodge.

7. Mt. Bachelor - Oregon

Skiers at Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort have access to 71 runs over 3,683 acres accessible by lift, with 1,600 acres groomed daily. There are several places to eat on the mountain, including fine dining at Carver's. You'll also find a ski and sport shop, rentals, private and group lessons, and a tubing park.

8. Tamarack Resort - Idaho

Located 90 miles north of Boise in Idaho’s Payette River Mountains, Tamarack Resort was opened in 2004. Tamarack features 1,100 acres of lift-accessed terrain, a SuperPipe, and two Terrain Parks all serviced by seven lifts, including three high-speed detachable quads.

9. 49 Degrees North - Washington

Located in northwest Washington, 49 Degrees North is a great mountain for skiers of all levels, from newbies to expert. The longest run on the mountain, Lost Dutchman, covers 2.5 miles. Services and facilities at 49 Degrees North includes rentals, lessons, daycare, a cafe, a bar, and RV parking. Development is currently underway to add new residential and rental accommodations.
