Eruption of Mount St. Helens

The Mount St. Helens volcano erupted with a spectacular ash plume on May 18, 1980 after a few months of seismic activity and smaller eruptions. Ash from Mount St. Helens fell in measurable depths up to hundreds of miles away. The Mount St. Helens volcano is located in the Cascade Mountain Range in the state of Washington.
