Riverfront Park lies at the heart of the "Lilac City". Legacy of the 1974 World's Fair, this 100-acre park sprawls along the river in downtown Spokane. At its center is the Great Northern Clock tower and the steel-cable structure of what was once the World's Fair's United States pavilion. The pavilion is now the home of an amusement park and seasonal ice skating rink. Wandering among the park's paths, visitors will find amphitheaters, a gondola ride, a floating stage, Spokane's Opera House and Convention Center, and public art. The preserved 1909 Looff Carrousel is still in operation, providing children of all ages with the chance to grab a real brass ring.
