Summer is the most popular time for vacationers to visit Seattle. Whether you come as part of a cruise, to attend a major festival, to explore the city, or to take in a special concert or exhibition, visiting during the summer makes your Seattle experience that much more special.

Summer in Seattle means fun, fun, fun. The long days provide extra opportunity for outdoor activities, whether you're interested in an evening hike or an outdoor concert. The weather is warm, but rarely too hot. Clear blue skies highlight the surrounding Puget Sound and mountain views. The summer sun can be a bit late, depending on the year. June can be rainy and overcast, while July, August, and September bring clear, dry conditions.

  • Memorial Day
    Special Memorial Day services can be found at veteran's cemeteries and lodge halls around the region. As many are scheduled at the last minute, the local newspaper is the best way to find about such events. The Northwest Folklife Festival at Seattle Center is the major community celebrations held every Memorial Day weekend in Seattle.
  • Independence Day
    Fireworks, parades, picnics, live music, good food, and good friends are among the highlights at the Seattle area's many July 4th celebrations.
  • Labor Day
    Labor Day weekend in Seattle means Bumbershoot, the city's huge music and arts festival at Seattle Center.
