The Mountain to Sound Greenway, designated as a National Scenic Byway, stretches from the shores of Puget Sound in Seattle to the Thorp Mill in Kittitas County. One of 75 National Scenic Byways, the Greenway extends for over 100 miles along the Interstate 90 corridor. According to the National Scenic Byways program, roads receive their designation on the basis of their "outstanding archaeological, cultural, historical, natural, recreational, and scenic value."

A drive along the Mountain to Sound Greenway makes for a great day's adventure. Each season provides its own particular beauty. Here are just a few of the highlights and side trips you can enjoy along the way:

  • Hike Mount Si
This four-mile uphill trail will get your heart pumping, but the view when you reaches the 4,000 summit makes it all worthwhile. Bring drinks and a picnic to enjoy while you relax and enjoy the view.
  • Snoqualmie Falls
Visited by over one million people each year, Snoqualmie Falls remain one of the regions more popular attractions. Enjoy the falls from the observation deck, picnic in the small park, or enjoy a meal at the fabulous Salish Lodge.
  • Iron Horse Trail State Park
In addition to camping and fishing, you can enjoy over 100 miles of trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
